Next up for #Johnuary is John Barry’s work on Out of Africa. Again this is a film I haven’t seen, and this is probably going to be the shortest entry in the whole month of #Johnuary.

It’s a Sydney Pollack film starring Robert Redford and Meryl Streep, with a score by John Barry. That’s a whole lot of awards potential right there, and they did indeed win seven Oscars including John Barry getting Best Original Score.

The soundtrack is allegedly fifteenth place in the American Film Institute’s list of top 25 American film scores.

It certainly is a very beautiful and majestic score. Lots of slow strings & and brass or strings & woodwind. Perhaps one day I’ll watch Out of Africa.
