We’re now into the second half of my look at all the old Your Spectrum magazines, in the run up to the ZX Spectrum Next launch (as explained before in my first post about Old Spectrum Mags). Here’s my look at the highlights of Your Spectrum Issue 12 from March 1985.

All images are taken from the ever-awesome Internet Archive. Here is the full magazine if you want to take a closer look. https://archive.org/details/your-spectrum-magazine-12

Interesting article below about an early look at the infamous Sinclair C5! It’s still a bucket list item of mine to have a ride in one of them.

Wow. This advert was made using only a 16k Spectrum and an Alphacom printer. Imagine what could be done with a ZX Big-Shot? I dread to think!

Interesting article below about an upcoming potential flat screen Spectrum.

Trashman stil holding his own against an amazing Top 10 line-up.

This Ghostbusters image is one of the 80s images that is burned on my brain. Fantastic to see it here in full colour in an issue of Your Spectrum. The adverts in Your Spectrum up until this point hadn’t been very pretty to be honest. I bet this one wowed the readers when they opened it.

Great to see first hand reviews of both Skool Daze and Knight Lore.

Another great two page game guide. This time on Ghostbusters.

Last month’s article had an article about these adverts for dodgy games. The adverts had previously just been text based but this is the first one that actually has a picture of a dirty old man in an overcoat. I’m guessing the news article about them got them some new customers!

I used to love scouring these Input Output pages back in the day and I find it fascinating to do so again today.

Interesting piece here interviewing a programmer from Bug Byte.

Could this ad be any more 80s? Looks like a pretty cool device though actually.

Stay tuned for Issue 13 coming soon!
