First of all, thanks to Rediscover the 80s for first bringing this to my attention in their post about Gizmo, Snarf, And Madballs Spotted In New ‘Ready Player One’ Set Photos.

I’m a big fan of the book Ready Player One by Ernest Cline. You can read some of my thoughts about it here. And although I do have some concerns about them changing some of the 80s references from the book due to copyright (and in particular probably not doing the Wargames filmaoke scene) I am excited about Spielberg being in charge of bringing this book to the screen.

They’re filming a lot of it in Birmingham and some eagle eyed tweeters have been posting snapshots from the set. I don’t normally look at set photos and things like this but I’m just curious about the 80s related set dressings and props they might be using so I found it quite interesting.
