I’m still looking at old ZX Spectrum 8-bit computer magazines while I wait for my new ZX Spectrum Next to arrive. This time I’m looking at the penultimate issue of Your Spectrum, Issue 20 from November 1985.
All images are taken from the ever-awesome Internet Archive. Here is the full magazine if you want to take a closer look. https://archive.org/details/your-spectrum-magazine-20
Pretty cool cover image above. And very, very exciting to see it has a feature on Elite. Read on.
In these Frontlines pages there are references to Lord of the Rings, Rambo, Doctor Who and Blade Runner. Not bad.
I wonder if this advert headline above was written by Clive Sinclair himself! I know he wanted people to see the Spectrum as less of a games machine and more a business and educational tool.
Great Nick Davies art above.
Ultimate is starting to move down the charts here, after dominating for the past year. Ocean starting to make an impact.
Great article on my favourite game of all time, Elite. What an incredible, ground-breaking game it was. Great to read a review of it at the time it came out.
This is a brilliant article above, with the buzzwords of Bulletin Boards explained. Very handy.
Street Hawk! I still haven’t played this on the Spectrum yet. Need to sort that out.
Best back cover of any magazine ever, probably. This image brings back to many memories.
