My look through all the old Your Spectrum and Your Sinclair magazines continues, in the run up to the ZX Spectrum Next launch (as explained before in my first post about Old Spectrum Mags). Here’s my look at the highlights of Your Spectrum Issue 14 from May 1985.

All images are taken from the ever-awesome Internet Archive. Here is the full magazine if you want to take a closer look. https://archive.org/details/your-spectrum-magazine-14

Now we enter the era of the full page Ultimate Play The Game ads. I’ve always loved the Ultimate box art and adverts. So classy.

It’s great that a Sinclair focussed mag still had the balls to call Sir Clive’s Sinclair C5 an ‘electric bidet’.

Ultimate with three games in the top 5 this week. What a hot time for them right about now.

Slagging off the Sinclair C5 again here in the first line of the article! What a great, geeky article here. Comparing times in a speed test between microdrives and wafadrives. Brilliant.

Modems! After I fell in love with the movie WarGames I just always drooled at the thought of having my Speccy hooked up to a modem. I never got one until years later though.

Another beautiful map from Your Spectrum. This time of the Ultimate classic Alien 8.

A great article here about hacking. Even though it did have a frank disclaimer in the first two paragraphs I’m still not sure you would get away with writing a similar article in a mainstream mag today.

Someone said that Bruce Lee was a ‘Miss’?! Sorry Roger but you don’t know what you’re talking about mate.

An On/Off switch for the ZX Spectrum! Absolute genius. This would have come in so handy back in the day. I wonder how well it worked.

Stay tuned for Issue 15 coming soon!
